At any rate, this verse says, “When Kara becomes Nihon”–which is to say, once God the Parent’s teachings are conveyed to those as yet unaware of them and are settled in their minds–“this will be the passage to eternal joy.” In the original, the part that corresponds to this last phrase contains the expression “iki dori,” which is difficult to interpret. If we look to the Divine Directions for pointers, we find the following passage, for example:
- A human being lives only for a lifetime and cannot be said to live forever [iki dori]. However, you can take delight if I tell you that the mind is eternal.
- Osashizu, February 12, 1900, supp. vol.
In this passage, the phrase under discussion, which is rendered as “live forever,” has the meaning of “be imperishable.” The meaning of verse 103, then, is that when the world evolves into a state described in this verse, it will be an ideal imperishable world.
