6:13 Quickly begin the Joyous Service by all means, for at the sign of the wheat harvest I shall bring everything (you say or think) into reality. *Note: Part 6 was written beginning from December 1874. The location of the Jiba was identified in the 5th lunar month of 1875 and the song “Ichiretsu sumasu Kanrodai” and its hand movements were introduced thereafter. One sees this verse as an anticipation of these developments. The Japanese term “aki” here means the season for the wheat harvest.

『おふでさき註釈』、p. 88 一三、何事も総て、あきを合図として実現しかけるから、どうでも早くよふきづとめを始めるようにせよ。 註　本号は、明治七年十二月からの御執筆にかかるもので、明治八年五月にはかんろだいの位置をお定めになり、その後「いちれつすますかんろだい」のお手をお付けになっておられる。その御予言と拝察する。あきとは、収穫期の意であって、ここでは麦の取り入れ時を言う。

The phrase “the wheat harvest” is a translation of “aki” (秋). As explained in Ofudesaki chushaku, the word “aki”–whose primary meaning is “autumn”–here means “harvest.” It is understood in the sense of “bakushu” (麦秋) meaning “wheat and barley harvest.” The verse could be seen as predicting the identification of Jiba, which would take place on the lunar calendar date of May 26 of the following year, namely 1875. This, in fact, is what Ofudesaki chushaku says. That date corresponded to the solar calendar date of June 29. The day after tomorrow happens to be June 29, and I think that wheat is harvested around this time of year. The verse says that the wheat harvest serves as a sign that it is time to expect clear manifestations of God’s workings. The verse then urges the followers to start performing the Joyous Service.
