Commentary by Yoshitaro Ueda (2008)

From Michi no Dai: Foundation of the Path 33:42–3

This verse speaks of “the Joyous Service.” Part 1, which was written in 1869, mentioned “the Kagura Service,” and Part 2 already contained the term “the Joyous Service.” I am a little curious, in this regard, about the Japanese word “mata” in the original (the sense of this word is intended to be conveyed in the English version by “resume”). I feel that this word is meant to hint that God will from this point on be actively making arrangements for the Service, such as having the kagura masks prepared and identifying Jiba. Having mentioned resuming the hastening for the Joyous Service, the verse does not expect people to easily understand what this is all about.
