From Michi no dai: Foundation of the Path 35:61–2
A while ago, we had a verse that spoke of “the root, the truth of this world.” Verse 85 goes deeper into the theme and says, “I shall let you dig up the root of this world’s origin.” This implies that the root of the world is connected to the story of the truth of origin. In this sense, as well, the story of the truth of origin represents an extremely important teaching that can be regarded as constituting the foundation of the entire teachings of Tenrikyo. This point is also related to the fact that the Kagura Service–which represents God the Parent’s work during creation with the performers’ hand-gestures–is the fundamental component of the path of single-hearted salvation. The verse is saying: “I shall let you inquire deeply into and gain a clear understanding of the fundamental truth of this world’s origin. If you have the strength to do so, strive to accomplish it.” The verse encourages people to inquire thoroughly into the truth of origin.
