The phrase “No matter how strong they may be”–for which the corresponding phrase in the original contains the word “goteki” or “difficult opponents”–can be seen as linked to “Kara” based on the logical flow of this portion of the Ofudesaki. Here “goteki” seems to connote those who abuse their power and authority. No matter how strong or powerful they may be, they would be left powerless and helpless “if God should withdraw.”
