Commentary
Commentary by Yoshitaro Ueda (2008)
From Michi no dai: Foundation of the Path 34:50–1
We are told that, having created us humans and the world to see our Joyous Life, God will thoroughly teach all the workings and blessings that will save all of us throughout the world. The phrase “ichiretsu ni” in the original implies equality and nondiscrimination. Besides indicating totality, “ichiretsu” has the meaning of the absence of discrimination. The verse says that God will teach every aspect of God’s “workings for the salvation of” all humans in the world–i.e. God’s workings and blessings that will save all people without any discrimination. Teaching us about God’s workings and blessings that will save all humans in the world will also include teaching us how such workings and blessings can be received.
