Commentary by Yoshitaro Ueda (2008)

From Michi no dai: Foundation of the Path 34:40–1

The main purpose of drawing people forth through illness is to assemble the performers of the Service. As far as humans are concerned, the focus is on receiving help. Yet God is using the opportunity to assemble the Service performers. “Taking this as a sign”–which is to say, once the Service performers assemble and set about performing the Service–God will begin all the workings, meaning that God’s workings will appear in a clear, noticeable way. God will draw the performers through illness and, once the performers assemble and begin the Service, all of God’s workings will appear clearly and noticeably.
