When do you think this day will come? kono higara itsu no koto ya omoteiru このひがら いつの事や をもている
On the fifth of the fifth month, it will definitely appear. gogatsu itsuka ni tashika dete kuru 五月五日に たしかでゝくる

Ofudesaki chushaku

4:3 *Note: Oyasama went to Sanmaiden on June 18, 1874, or the fifth of the fifth lunar month (5/5) to receive the kagura masks She had asked Her brother Kyosuke to make, which had been completed some time before. About the fourth lunar month of that year, Ryosuke Yamazawa and Chushichi Yamanaka were sick in bed. Oyasama’s sister-in-law Taki Maegawa (wife of Her younger brother Hanzaburo) also had trouble moving her arms and legs to the point she was almost an invalid. This verse anticipated that these people would come to Oyasama to hear the teachings and request for salvation. It happened that these three people came to Jiba on that day (lunar 5/5).

三、註 三昧田でお作らせになっていたかぐら面が出来上がって迎えにお出でになったのが、明治七年六月十八日で、陰暦五月五日にあたる。又、明治七年陰暦四月の頃、山沢良助、山中忠七の両名病を得て病臥中であった。又、三昧田村の前川半三郎の妻たきが、当時手足の不自由を覚えて、ほとんどいざりのような状態であったが、五月いつかはこれ等の人々が教祖に教をこい、おたつけをお願いに出るぞ、と予め仰せられたのである。 果たしてその日に到って、前期の三名がおぢばへ参った。

I made a brief reference to this verse a while ago. Ofudesaki chushaku (Annotations to the Ofudesaki) says: “The kagura masks had been made in Sanmaiden at Oyasama’s request, and it was on June 18, 1874–which corresponded to the lunar calendar date of May 5–that Oyasama went there to receive them.” According to The Life of Oyasama, those who accompanied Oyasama to Sanmaiden “performed the Kagura Service in its regular form.”

These masks were made by Oyasama’s elder brother, Kyosuke Maegawa, who had passed away some two years before. This means that the masks had been kept at the Maegawa home for some time. They were used to perform “the Kagura Service in its regular form” when the appropriate season arrived.

As I may have said before, phrases such as “broad path” and “main path” are closely related to the Service. Indeed, verses 2 and 3 indicate that the foundation of the broad path is the Service.
