3:146 After the path has been swept, it will be wide and clean, allowing many people to walk it with ease. Bring as many people along it as you can. |
『おふでさき註釈』、p. 52 一四六、掃除をした後の道は、広々としてきれいで楽に歩けるから幾人でも連れて通れ。 |
Commentary by Yoshitaro Ueda (2008)
From Michi no Dai: Foundation of the Path 33:62
After the sweeping is completed, the path will be broad as well as free of dust or mud. It will then be possible to take any number of people along the path, and indeed the verse says to “take along with you as many others as you wish.”
Incidentally, we read the phrase “ひろくで” (hirokude) in the original as “hirokute,” understanding the letter “で” (de) as “て” (te).
