Ofudesaki chushaku

3:103 Do not think it to be an illness when your chest feels heavy and you do not feel well. It is a sign of My hastening.

『おふでさき註釈』、p. 47

一〇三、胸がつかえて気分が悪いような事があっても、それは病気だと思うてはならぬ。親神の急き込みがつかえているしるしである。

Commentary by Yoshitaro Ueda (2008)

From Michi no Dai: Foundation of the Path 33:53

One should not think of conditions like tightness or discomfort in the chest as an illness. The Ofudesaki repeatedly emphasizes that there is no such thing as illness. What seems like an illness can, instead, be seen as a sign of God’s hastening. We might say that such a condition as tightness in the chest is a manifestation of God’s impatience or of humans’ lack of response to God’s hastening.
