Commentary

Commentary by Yoshitaro Ueda (2008)

From Michi no Dai: Foundation of the Path 33:35

In this path, we are taught that children up to the age of fifteen are provided for according to the state of the mind of their parents. This means that whatever happens to children is intended to alert their parents’ attention. If, for example, a child cries at night, his or her parents ought to ponder deeply and reflect critically on themselves. They should be quick in responding by pondering, so that they will not make a mistake in handling the mind.
