Commentary by Yoshitaro Ueda (2008)
From Michi no dai: Foundation of the Path 32:55
Notwithstanding what we have just said, we are told here that those of us who are selfish and greedy and give free rein to our desires will experience the consequences through the “anger of God.”
Incidentally, toward the end of the first line in the original, we have “ゆへ” (transcribable as “yue”), which however is read “ue” here. The standard way of reading the verses of the Ofudesaki can be found in the official Romanized edition, which was compiled based on the tape recording of the second Shinbashira's reading of the Ofudesaki.
