From Michi no dai: Foundation of the Path 35:75
It is taught that Izanagi-no-Mikoto and Izanami-no-Mikoto refer, respectively, to the model of man and the model of woman as well as the principle of the seed and the principle of the seedplot in the beginnings of origin–or “the model of man, the seed,” and “the model of woman, the seedplot,” as the usual phrases go.
