Everything–whether it is telling such a marvelous story or doing anything else–is God's action, which is never intended to cause trouble to those who are close to God. Put conversely, however, common sense may say that, given these verses, the theme about to be introduced must be problematic. In actual fact, the story of the truth of origin provided one of the pretexts for the authorities to control and suppress Tenrikyo during the Meiji Period (1868–1912) and subsequent decades. Indeed, it was difficult to openly teach the story of the truth of origin until 1945, when World War II ended. The story is included in the first half of the Besseki lecture, but it was added after the end of the war. The story of the truth of origin was not included in the Besseki lectures given before the war. This was because this unique creation story is incompatible with Japan's official myths, a fact that made it difficult for Tenrikyo to openly teach this story. Nevertheless, verse 2 says that God the Parent will not cause trouble.
