4:101 Although this path is at first a difficult path to understand, it is a wonderful teaching that is truly unparalleled in this world. All that I tell you will become true without fail. Because it is a path with promising prospects, keep a steady eye to the future. |
Commentary by Yoshitaro Ueda (2009)
From Michi no dai: Foundation of the Path 34:61
It may be slightly hard to interpret the phrase “This path may be somewhat difficult, but it is marvelous indeed.” The path of salvation that the Scripture speaks of in the present portion–that is to say, the path that uses the Service to bring salvation–is difficult and not at all straightforward to follow. However, “it is marvelous indeed.” I explained the term “marvelous” before. The verse here is saying that this is a marvelous, unprecedented, and precious path and that people would do well to closely watch how it unfolds in the times ahead.
