From Michi no dai: Foundation of the Path 35:57
When such returns are given, “purification will reach any and everyone.” That is to say, everyone who sees such returns for what they are can be motivated to sweep and purify the mind. If people realize that all states of mind, whether positive or negative, will lead to commensurate returns, they will all sweep their hearts clean and purify their minds by taking to heart the principle that all blessings are given according to the state of mind. This is something that is taught repeatedly and clearly in later portions of the Ofudesaki such as Part XII.
