Sprinkling the fragrance

Sprinkling the fragrance or Nioigake is the teaching of conveying the teachings of Tenrikyo through Hinokishin or Salvation (otasuke) in action or with words. "Sprinkling the fragrance" is a metaphor in that the teachings is emitting a fragrance to others such that it attracts them to the faith. Sprinkling the fragrance is most commonly associated with practicing door-to-door missionary work seeking people who would like to receive the Sazuke, spiritual guidance, or learn more about the teachings of Tenrikyo.
